Vakharia appointed Department Editor of leading journal

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Dr. Asoo J. Vakharia, McClatchy Professor and Director of the Center for Supply Chain Management in the Department of Information Systems and Operations Management, has been appointed as a Department Editor of Production & Operations Management. He previously served as a Senior Editor for the journal.

Dr. Vakharia, who begins his new role this month, will lead POM’s Information Systems Interface Department joining fellow Department Editor Dr. Subodha Kumar of Texas A&M’s Mays School of Business.

Production & Operations Management Society (POMS) is an international professional organization comprised of academics and practitioners in the field. Dr. Vakharia is currently serving as President of POMS for two years (2014-2016). The flagship journal of POMS, Production & Operations Management, is recognized as a top academic publication in the field of Operations and Supply Chain Management.

Dr. Vakharia has a Ph.D. from the School of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research focus is on Supply Chain Management with an emphasis on Green/Sustainable Product Development, Channel Selection and Design and Reverse Supply Chains.

Dr. Vakharia is also an exemplary teacher at the University of Florida and has taught courses in Operations/Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing Planning and Control, International Logistics and MPC/ERP Systems Integration. He has been extensively involved in Executive Teaching and has also taught industry specific executive development courses for several companies. His consulting work includes projects with AT&T Solutions Customer Care, Golden Eagle Distributors, Garrett Air Research, Motorola, Sweetheart Cups, Inc., and the University of Arizona Medical Center.
