Warrington international students receive university honors

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Warrington College of Business Administration students Manu Chandrasekaran, Shuangyu Li, Regine Moeller, Jomar Pecson and Angie Wang were recipients of the 2014 Outstanding Student Award from the University of Florida’s International Center.

The Outstanding International Student Awards recognize the accomplishments of UF international students who not only meet exemplary academic achievement, but also a wide of range of accomplishments and contributions.

Manu Chandrasekaran: Chandrasekaran (BSAc ’15) is involved in numerous community and campus leadership programs, including Florida Leadership Academy, Keys Governing Body and Indian Students for Honest Politics. He was a Business Performance Services Intern for KPMG in Doha, Qatar, in Summer 2011, and worked in Social Media Promotions for the Qatar Green Building Council.

Shuangyu Li: Li (MIB ’14): served as the main organizer for the Hong Kong Leadership Award Project, an annual event aimed at bridging the communication gap between Hong Kong and mainland China. Li has also interned at the Beijing branch of China Merchants Bank working in client relations and commercial banking, and as an Assistant Journalist at the Shenzhen Economic Daily. Li earned a Bachelor of Economics at Beijing’s Renmin University of China.

Regine Moeller: Moeller (BSBA ’15), a native of Greenland, has interned at TELE Greenland A/S Group, the country’s primary telecommunication and postal provider, and at Air Greenland in the airline’s public relations and marketing division. Moeller, a United World College Scholar, has served as both Chapter Development Director and Vice President of Professional Development for UF’s chapter of the American Marketing Association.

Jomar Pescon: Pescon (BSBA ’16) serves as Treasurer for Aero Gators, on the Communications Committee Staff of Florida Leadership Academy, and as Technology Director for UF’s International Business Society. Pescon, a United World College Scholar, interned in the Information Technology department of the Philippine Department of Finance in Manila this past summer.

Xi (Angie) Wang: Wang is pursuing a Ph.D. in Accounting. She earned a B.B.A. in Accounting from Emory University. Wang’s research interests include financial voluntary disclosure, corporate governance and international accounting. Wang is a member of both the American Accounting Association (AAA) and its Financial Accounting and Reporting Accounting Section. She also was named an AAA/Deloitte/J. Michael Cook Doctoral Consortium Fellow this year.
