Kraft named to AACSB committee to analyze management education

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Dr. John Kraft, Dean of the Warrington College of Business Administration, has been named to an AACSB International (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) Blue Ribbon Committee designed to revise the standards of management education.

The committee is comprised of 22 leading university educators from across the globe. The committee’s objective is to “evaluate the state of readiness of AACSB’s accreditation standards and processes to ensure the alignment of business practice and management education…set appropriate expectations for quality and continuous improvement which business schools must continue to demonstrate in the future.”

“It is imperative that business schools prepare students for both the challenges and opportunities in the world of business,” said Andrew J. Policano, Chairman of the Board of Directors of AACSB International. “The establishment of the Blue Ribbon Committee will allow AACSB and leaders of business schools worldwide to thoroughly review the global environment of business, and make certain accreditation standards and processes effectively align with the many factors impacting businesses today and in the future.”

Dr. Kraft has contributed heavily to AACSB’s mission having served as the organization’s Chairman of the Board of Directors and numerous committees including the Business Accreditation Committee and the Maintenance of Accreditation Committee among others. He has also served on the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) Board of Directors and is a past Governor of the Beta Gamma Sigma Board of Directors.

Dr. Kraft has been the Dean of the Warrington College of Business Administration since 1990. He previously served as Associate Dean and the Director of the Bureau of Economic and Business Research. He was a Professor of Finance from 1980 to 1986 and Assistant Professor of Economics from 1970 to 1974.

Dr. Kraft received a B.S. in Mathematics from St. Bonaventure University and a M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh.
