DiMatteo honored for career research and lifetime contribution

GAINESVILLE, Fla. –Huber Hurst Professor of Contract Law & Legal Studies Dr. Larry A. DiMatteo has been honored by the Southeastern Academy of Legal Studies in Business (SEALSB) with the establishment of a senior research award in his name. The Larry A. DiMatteo Senior Research Award, which will be awarded every two years, will first be given at the 2012 Annual SEALSB Conference in Atlanta. The SEALSB is a regional organization of legal studies professors encompassing the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

The award will recognize senior scholars who have made significant contributions to legal studies and legal research and scholarship over a sustained period of time. Professor DiMatteo is the author of more than 30 law review articles and six books. His research specializes on contract law and international business law. In 2005, he was awarded the first-ever “Ray August Award for Master Teacher of International Business Law” by the Academy of Legal Studies in Business. In 2009, he was appointed a Leverhulme Trust Fund Professor and provided Leverhulme lectures at the University of Leicester, United Kingdom. Professor DiMatteo is a past-president of the SEALSB and was conference chair of its 2006 Annual Conference in Savannah, Georgia. In addition, he was Editor-in-Chief of the American Business Law Journal and past-president of the International Law Section of the Academy of Legal Studies in Business.

Dr. DiMatteo has been a professor at Warrington since 1999. He previously instructed at the University of Miami. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University at Buffalo, Juris Doctorate from Cornell University, Masters of Law from Harvard University, and a Ph.D. in Business and Commercial Law from Monash University in Australia.
