Shugan and Xie named finalists for respected marketing award

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Russell Berrie Foundation Eminent Scholar Dr. Steven Shugan and George W. and Lisa O. Etheridge Professor of International Business Dr. Jinhong Xie were named finalists for the INFORMS Society for Marketing Science Long Term Impact Award.

The LTI Award is given annually to “a marketing paper published in Marketing Science, Management Science or another INFORMS journal that is viewed to have made a significant long run impact on the field of Marketing.”

Dr. Shugan and Dr. Xie were recognized for their work, “Electronic Tickets, Smart Cards, and Online Prepayments: When and How to Advance Sell,” which was published in Marketing Science in 2001.

Dr. Shugan teaches multivariate statistics, marketing models and advanced marketing management. He was editor-in-chief of Marketing Science, editor of Journal of Business and associate editor of Management Science and served on more than 10 editorial boards including the Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing & Journal of Marketing Research. He is an INFORMS fellow as well as an Inaugural Fellow of the Society for Marketing Science.

Dr. Xie teaches in the MBA and EMBA Program. She has taught managerial statistics, pricing policy, marketing research, marketing strategy, and international marketing. Her research interests have included emerging technology and service strategy, social networks, word of mouth communication, technology and fashion, independent product information, network effects and standards competition.
