Judge Silvernail (BA 1972, MBA 1974, JD 1977) was a judge for the 18th Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. Now retired, Judge Silvernail was elected by the Judiciary of 18th Circuit as Chief Judge and is Past Chairman of the Judicial Qualification Commission on which he served for 8 years.

Eight years ago, the Judiciary established the Judge J. Preston Silvernail Civility Award, which is bestowed annually to a lawyer who demonstrates these same qualities of professionalism, collegiality and personal integrity and whose actions and demeanor in the courtroom promote a civil atmosphere.
