DiMatteo earns grant and appointment from Center for European Studies
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Dr. Larry A. DiMatteo, Huber Hurst Professor of Contract Law & Legal Studies in the Department of Management has been awarded a Course Enhancement Grant and an appointment as an Affiliate Professor by UF’s Center for European Studies.
The grant was awarded for Dr. DiMatteo’s International Business Law courses. The grant’s purpose is to develop a component on the European Union to be incorporated into those courses (BUL 6852 and BUL 4264).
The CES offers annual competition for the grants ($3000 each) which are awarded each year. Course enhancement includes, but is not limited to, the incorporation of new technologies (such as video conferencing or increased web content), broadening the scope of the course to make it more interdisciplinary, or creating a “capstone” experience add-on unit that incorporates a short study abroad visit to Europe.
Dr. DiMatteo’s appointment as an Affiliate Professor at the CES is officially within UF’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The Center for European Studies is a Title VI National Resource Center funded in part by the US Department of Education. CES was created in 2003 and is currently one of just ten Europe/West Europe Title VI Centers in the country. The goal of these centers is to assist in the development of area and language skills among the country’s best students through fostering rich academic and cultural environments including broad language and areas studies courses, degree options and study abroad opportunities.
