Janiszewski tapped as new ACR President

Gainesville, Fla. – Chris Janiszewski, Faricy Professor of Marketing at the Warrington College of Business Administration, has been elected president of the Association for Consumer Research (ACR). The mission of the ACR is to advance consumer research and facilitate the exchange of scholarly information among members of academia, industry, and government worldwide. The Association has 1700 members from business (primarily marketing and advertising) and social science (primarily psychology and communication) departments.

“The mission of ACR is to facilitate the growth and advancement of the field of consumer research. We also help new faculty integrate into the academic community by providing a forum for exchanging ideas and making professional contacts,” Janiszewski said.

Janiszewski is the fourth member of UF’s marketing faculty to serve as president of the ACR, a nod to UF’s expertise in consumer research. Other past presidents include Distinguished Service Professor Joel Cohen, JC Penney Professor Richard Lutz and Distinguished Professor Joseph Alba.

Janiszewski will serve as ACR president until October 2008.
