Leading entrepreneurship educator to join Warrington faculty
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Warrington College of Business Administration is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Michael H. Morris to its faculty. Dr. Morris, who will begin his duties in August 2013, has been appointed as the George and Lisa Etheridge Professor of Entrepreneurship and Clinical Professor, and will serve as Academic Director of the Entrepreneurship Program.
“Michael will bring a national spotlight, innovative programs, and a wealth of experience in entrepreneurship education that will continue to elevate the offerings available to students, faculty, staff and alumni of the University of Florida,” said Jamie Kraft, Director of Warrington’s Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation. “His commitment to building a program rooted in the community will have tremendous regional impacts. We look forward to welcoming him to our team, and continuing to work to build a globally-recognized center for entrepreneurial excellence.”
Dr. Morris’ entrepreneurship programs have consistently been ranked among the top 10 by U.S. News & World Report, Fortune Small Business and the Princeton Review/Entrepreneur Magazine. A pioneer in curricular innovation and a leader in high impact experiential engagement with the entrepreneurial community, Dr. Morris was most recently recognized by the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE) as its 2012 Entrepreneurship Educator of the Year. In addition, Dr. Morris is a former Fulbright Scholar, has received the Leavey Prize for impacting private enterprise education, was named one of the top 20 entrepreneurship professors in the United States by Fortune Small Business and was inducted as a 21st Century Entrepreneurship Research Fellow by the Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers. He has authored ten books and more than 130 peer-reviewed academic articles.
“I am excited to join the fantastic entrepreneurship team at UF,” Dr. Morris explained. “With a solid foundation in place, strong administrative and faculty commitment, and the national recognition already received by the program, I think we can do some exciting things in taking entrepreneurship to the next level.”
Dr. Morris was most recently the N. Malone Mitchell Chair in Entrepreneurship at Oklahoma State University where he established the first School of Entrepreneurship at a major U.S. research university.
