Thomas elected Secretary-Treasurer of leading business academy

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Huber Hurst Fellow Dr. Robert E. Thomas was elected Secretary-Treasurer of the Academy of Legal Studies in Business (International) (ALSB) on Aug. 7 at its conference in Richmond, Va.

By virtue of his election to the Executive Committee, Dr. Thomas, an Associate Professor of Business Law and Legal Studies and Chair of the Department of Management at the Warrington College of Business Administration, will serve as ALSB President in 2013.

The ALSB is the premier academy for legal business studies in the world. Founded in 1924, the ALSB is an association of scholars in the fields of business law, legal environment, and law-related courses outside of professional law schools and it publishes the No. 1-ranked peer-reviewed business law journal, The American Business Law Journal. Members primarily come from all 50 U.S. states, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and England among other nations.

Thomas has been a professor in the Warrington College of Business Administration for 17 years. He was the director of the prestigious Huber Hurst Legal Research Seminar, and he is highly regarded for his leadership and his teaching in business law, intellectual property law and negotiations. He has also taught at The University of Michigan Ross School of Business, the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and the Institut D’Administration Des Entreprises in Aix-en-Provence, France and he has lectured throughout the United States and Europe on patent law reform, intellectual property law and negotiations.
