Vakharia appointed Editor of Decision Sciences Journal

Gainesville, Fla. – Asoo J. Vakharia, Beall Professor of Supply Chain Management has been appointed Editor of the Decision Sciences Journal (DSJ).

DSJ, the premier journal of the Decision Sciences Institute, publishes scholarly research on contemporary strategic and tactical decision problems that are inter-organizational, group-based, and/or technology-enabled. According to the 2008 ISI and Thompson Reuters Journal Citation Report for management journals, DSJ has an impact factor equivalent, and in some cases superior, to the leading journals in Information Systems & Operations Management (e.g., the Journal of Operations Management; Management Science; Information Systems Research; Production and Operations Management Journal; and Manufacturing & Service Operations Management).

Vakharia, currently an associate editor of DSJ, will serve his four-year term as Editor starting June 2010. He also serves as a Senior Editor for the Production & Operations Management Journal, an Area Editor for Operations Management Research, and is on the Editorial Review Board for Journal of Supply Chain Performance and Business Modeling. Vakharia is a recognized scholar in Operations & Supply Chain Management and has published extensively in leading academic journals in his field of expertise. His research, which has received numerous awards, has also been funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Center for International Business Education & Research (CIBER). Currently he is working on emerging problems in managing supply chain disruptions, and design of green/sustainable supply chains.

In addition to his research activities, Vakharia is the Director of the Center for Supply Chain Management in the College. He also teaches in several executive MBA programs and has won multiple teaching awards. Asoo obtained his Ph. D. from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
