Knechel appointed Editor of Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Ernst & Young Professor of Accounting Dr. W R Knechel has been appointed Editor of Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory.
The publication is one of the premier academic accounting journals contributing to “improving the practice and theory of auditing and promoting communication between research and practice, which will influence present and future developments in auditing education as well as auditing research and practice.”
Dr. Knechel has previously served on the publication’s editorial board as an Associate Editor and has been a frequent contributor to the journal. His three-year term as Editor begins June 30, 2011.
In addition to teaching auditing and financial reporting in the undergraduate and graduate curriculum, Dr. Knechel serves as the Director of the International Center for Research in Accounting and Auditing at the Fisher School of Accounting. Dr. Knechel travels extensively throughout the world increasing the global visibility of the ICRAA and the Fisher School. He holds formal teaching positions at Maastricht University in The Netherlands and the University of Auckland in New Zealand.
Dr. Knechel’s research has been published in numerous academic journals including the Journal of Accounting Research, The Accounting Review, Accounting Organizations and Society, Contemporary Accounting Research, Decisions Sciences Journal, Accounting Horizons and Issues in Accounting Education.
Dr. Knechel has received the Warrington College of Business Administration’s “Distinguished International Educator Award” multiple times. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Delaware in 1977 and his Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina in 1981.
