Management faculty ranks No. 1 in productivity

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida’s Management Faculty was ranked #1 in the U.S. in a recently released study of faculty research productivity.

In a joint study by Texas A & M University and the University of Florida, the research productivity of management departments of members of the Association of American Universities (AAU) were analyzed for research published in the top management journals during 2004 and 2005. The top eight management journals are:

  • Academy of Management Journal
  • Academy of Management Review
  • Administrative Science Quarterly
  • Journal of Applied Psychology
  • Organization Science
  • Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes
  • Personnel Psychology
  • Strategic Management Journal

The universities were chosen for analysis based on whether they are members of the Association of American Universities (AAU). The AAU represents the 62 most prominent research universities in North America.

Data were not adjusted for faculty size and only one affiliation per article was counted (an article by two or more authors from the same university was counted only once). The analysis included only management departments; psychology departments, industrial relations centers, etc. were excluded.
