UF SIFE wins regional championship for 12th consecutive year
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team at the Warrington College of Business Administration won its 12th consecutive regional championship at the 2011 SIFE USA Regional Competition in Atlanta.
The competition was one of 12 regionals that took place throughout the country over the past four weeks. The victory in the League 10 division advances UF SIFE to the 2011 SIFE USA National Exposition May 10-12 in Minneapolis, Minn.
Competing teams present an annual report, project verification form, team data sheet and active team sheet to be judged during a 37-minute live presentation. Judges, considering the relevant economic, social and environmental concepts, decide which team most effectively empowered people in need by applying business and economic concepts and an entrepreneurial approach to improve their quality of life and standard of living.
UF SIFE has been involved in numerous projects this past year that has benefited local and regional communities including “Get a Job Gainesville” where students aided the unemployed in job searching and “Day of Difference” where UF SIFE students visited area elementary schools educating and inspiring students about business, economics and free enterprise.
