Undergraduate Ethics Team qualifies for Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Four members of the Undergraduate Ethics Team recorded a top-five finish in the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics (APPE) Southeast Regional Ethics Bowl on Nov. 12 in St. Petersburg, Fla. The team’s impressive finish in the regional competition qualified it for the APPE Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl on March 1, 2012 in Cincinnati.

The team was comprised of senior Management major Abby Zayyad, junior Economics and Chinese double major John Bryan, junior Economics major Rachel Chang and sophomore Economics and French double major Katy Dawson.

Teams analyzed and presented on a variety of cases including student voting rights, a dilemma involving indigenous people and endangered species and grade inflation.

The impressive finish at the Southeast Regional Ethics Bowl was preceded by the team winning the “Ethics Only” division at the Intercollegiate Business Ethics Case Competition (IBECC) earlier this year. That team was comprised of Bryan, Zayyad, senior Management major Taylor McMurrin and junior Management major Ashley Tighe.
