Alberto “Papo” Manrara (BS ’05, MSM ’06) | January 2022
Alberto “Papo” Manrara (BS 2005, MSM 2006), former Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office Prosecutor, was promoted to the position of Partner at EPGD Business Law, known as the Entrepreneur’s Law Firm based in Miami, Florida. Combing his business and law degrees, Manrara was a Senior Litigation Associate with the firm for 4 years where he has been focused on representing business owners to assert their rights in court and arbitration, often litigating contentious partnership and franchise disputes.
Manrara has delivered excellent results to his clients in a number of noteworthy cases, including a full dismissal with prejudice of a Dram Shop Act suit against a prominent restaurant owner in Lee County, the successful negotiation of a non-compete dispute for a franchisor with locations throughout Florida, securing a very favorable settlement after non-binding arbitration in a healthcare provider’s partnership dispute in Lee County, and the ongoing successful enforcement of franchisors’ rights for a variety of his franchise clients.
Prior to law school, he worked as a Litigation Paralegal at the Manhattan office of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP. He earned his undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Master’s of Science in Management from the University of Florida, both with honors, and received his law degree from Villanova University School of Law under the prestigious Deirdre L. Bailey Leadership Scholarship, graduating with honors.
“We are delighted to have Alberto become a Partner with the firm. Alberto has shown himself to be a multi-faceted litigator with exceptional abilities that have led to favorable results for our clients. We are honored to work with him,” said Eric Gros Dubois, the firm’s Founder and Partner.
Oscar Gomez, Partner, Chair Litigation Practice Group says, “One of the best decisions I ever made was recruiting Papo to the firm four years ago from the State Attorney’s Office. He has consistently delivered results and value to our firm’s clients. His courtroom presence and preparation are unquestioned and I have thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with him on challenging litigation matters over that time. I am very happy for him and truly excited for EPGD’s future.”
During his time in the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, he prosecuted hundreds of felony cases, ranging from drug possession and violent crimes to life felonies and non-bondable offenses. As a prosecutor, Manrara tried over 50 bench trial cases to verdict as lead counsel and tried over a dozen cases to verdict before a jury.
Manrara’s litigation skills were recognized at the SAO when he was chosen to serve as an Assistant Chief, where he was responsible for the supervision, training and trial preparation of dozens of attorneys. In an era where few attorneys ever set foot inside a courtroom, he successfully argued extensive motions, including pre-trial hearings, sidebar objection conferences, and summary judgment motions during trial. This experience benefits our clients by ensuring that navigating through the court and legal system is handled by a very experienced attorney.
Manrara was born and raised in Miami, Florida, and currently lives in Coral Gables with his wife, baby girl, and his pet French Bulldog, “Porkchop”. He enjoys playing Disc Golf, watching Gator football, and visiting America’s National Parks.
