Britt Crewse

Crewse (MBA 1993, MHS 1993) was recently selected to serve as MaineHealth’s next regional president overseeing operations at Maine Medical Center in Portland and Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford and Sanford. Crewse will assume his role in January 2024.

Crewse has served as the chief executive officer of the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Miss. since 2020.  In that role, he oversees University Hospital, Wallace Conerly Critical Care Hospital and Wiser Hospital, all on the Medical Center’s Jackson campus. During his time there he has helped to lead measurable improvements in quality, safety and patient experience. He previously served as chief operating officer of adult hospitals between 2018 and 2020. Prior to the University of Mississippi, Crewse had leadership roles at Duke University Health System in Durham, N.C., Ernst & Young LLP and Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, Ga.

In his role as regional president, Crewse will oversee all clinical care and operations for Maine Medical Center and Southern Maine Health Care. Portland-based MMC is Maine’s largest hospital with 700 licensed beds, is the state’s only academic medical center and home to its only Level 1 trauma center. SMHC includes a full service, acute care medical center in Biddeford, with York County’s only inpatient mental health unit. Emergency care, surgical services and diagnostic and therapy services are available at SMHC’s Medical Centers in Biddeford and Sanford.
