Nermine Khouzam Rubin

Rubin (BS 1983, MBA/MHS 1986), Founder and CEO of Water 4 Mercy, has been appointed as an EMINENT Peace Ambassador by the International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA)—an international organization with special consultative status under the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

Rubin’s bold initiates and impactful work have earned her the title of Eminent Peace Ambassador, which is reserved for individuals committed to fostering peace, cultural understanding, and sustainable development on a global scale. This appointment recognizes Rubin’s ongoing work to advance human dignity through the mission and outreach of Water 4 Mercy.

Through this role, Rubin will support the United Nations’ peace and justice initiatives and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by participating in advocacy, public diplomacy, and peacebuilding efforts. She has also been invited to take part in upcoming global events, including the Women Peace Conference in Somalia this August.

Water 4 Mercy’s initiatives across Africa—focused on clean water access, and promoting water stewardship by growing highly nutritious foods, and teaching agricultural education for sustainability and economic empowerment—align closely with the values promoted by IAWPA and the broader UN framework.

This recognition follows previous international acknowledgments of Rubin’s humanitarian leadership, including her 2024 appointment to the Order de Parte Guelfa, a knighthood and historic order recognizing contributions to saving the world.
