Steven Blumberg (BSBA ’86) | November 2024

Steven Blumberg Blumberg (BSBA 1986) was named President & CEO of Florida Health Care Plans (FHCP). Blumberg was most recently vice president of strategy and practice transformation for GuideWell, the Jacksonville-based parent company for FHCP.

He began his professional career in 1987 as an analyst with Nemours, a nonprofit children’s health organization in Jacksonville. He was promoted the following year to coordinator and director of planning and marketing.

In 1992, Blumberg went to work for Baptist Health in Jacksonville where he began as director of the Baptist Doctors Office Network. He was promoted to vice president of primary care for Baptist/St. Vincent’s in 1995 and was named vice president of strategist planning and marketing in 2000. Blumberg went to work for UF Health-Shands Healthcare in 2003 where he served as vice president of planning and business development for nine years, splitting his time between Gainesville and Jacksonville. In 2012, he took a job as senior vice president of Atlanticare and executive director of Atlanticare Health Solutions for Geisinger Health System in Egg Harbor, New Jersey.

He returned to Florida in December 2016 when he became interim vice president of planning and business development at UF Health Jacksonville. In May 2017, Blumberg moved to South Florida to become chief planning and business development officer at the University of Miami Health System. He got hired away in November 2017 by Baptist Health South Florida in Coral Gables where he became corporate vice president of value-based care. Blumberg joined GuideWell in June 2019 when he took a job as vice president of strategy and practice transformation.
