Thomas Olmstead with his coffee can collection

In 1964, after graduating from Western Michigan University, he took part in a one-year accounting program at the University of Florida. He refused to shave his scraggly beard, which made it that much harder to find gainful employment, but finally, after he’d spent seven years in Gainesville, an accounting firm hired him. He worked there for 25 years. | WUFT

Olmsted (BAA 1965, MBA 1971) retired from the accounting industry after 25 years of working at a Gainesville firm. He is an avid collector, with over 100 collections in his possession.
