Graduate Exchange Student Spotlight: Jacob Sterling
Jacob Sterling is an international exchange student from Norway, here to simultaneously earn a graduate and undergraduate degree in business and finance. He shares why he chose to pursue graduate business programs at the University of Florida and his experience of living in two different countries.
Q: Tell us about your background and your country.
I am Norwegian/American, on exchange from the BI Norwegian Business School in Oslo, Norway, to pursue a Master of Science in Business degree with a major in finance. During my free time, I enjoy cross-country skiing, hiking, reading and finance.
Norway is an open and international country. What sets it apart from anything else is the semi-arctic flora with magnificent fjords and mountains. I recommend everyone put it on their bucket lists.
Q: Why did you choose to come to the University of Florida?
I chose to come to the USA because I’ve longed to come back ever since moving to Norway in 2008. It’s also a great opportunity to see my American family here, something that has been difficult since the pandemic. More specifically, I chose the University of Florida due to the quality of the program, the courses provided and, of course, the great weather.
Q: What are you missing the most from your home country?
I am missing my family and friends.
Q: One cool fact about you!
I grew up with quite an international background, having lived in both Norway and the United States.
