Lecturers awarded College’s graduate teaching honor

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Lecturers Judy Callahan and Jim Parrino received the College’s 2015-16 Graduate Teaching Awards.

The Graduate Teaching Award signifies excellence in all aspects of teaching at the graduate level.

Judy Callahan:Dr. Callahan, a Lecturer in the Department of Management, was recognized for her exemplary work focusing on human resources and relationship management. Dr. Callahan, who has been a Lecturer at Warrington since 2006, instructs Compensation in Organizations, which examines the design of compensation systems and performance management among other objectives; Organizational Staffing, which analyzes the relationship between staffing and organizational strategy; Art & Science of Negotiation, which studies the principles, strategies and tactics of effective negotiation; and International Human Resource Management, a global examination of staff management. Dr. Callahan received an MBA (1990) and Ph.D. in Management (1994) from the University of Maryland.

Jim Parrino: Dr. Parrino, a Lecturer in the Department of Finance, Insurance and Real Estate, was honored for his work in Investment Banking and Corporate Financial Modeling I & II, which provides a practical application of corporate finance skills necessary in investment and commercial bank analysis; Capital Structure and Risk Management, which tackles advanced capital budgeting, financing and payout policy among topics; Venture Finance, where students engage in developing and evaluating business plans, financial statement forecasting and deal structuring; and Mergers & Acquisitions, which teaches students to evaluate these types of transactions, and exposes the key tactical issues typically found in them. Dr. Parrino also leads the College’s Corporate Finance Seminar, a survey of literature on corporate finance topics. Dr. Parrino earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Florida in 1981, an MBA from George Washington University in 1986 and a Ph.D. from the University of Virginia in 1996.
