Fisher School maintains impressive standing in US News rankings

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Fisher School of Accounting’s undergraduate program ranked fifth among U.S. public programs in U.S. News & World Report’s “2017 Best Colleges” edition released Tuesday.

Overall, the Fisher School’s undergraduate program ranked 10th in the U.S.

“I’m pleased to see the hard work of our students, faculty, and staff receive this external confirmation,” said Dr. Gary McGill, J. Roy Duggan Professor and Director of the Fisher School. “We are proud of the contributions our graduates make in all dimensions of the accounting profession and the business world.”

The Fisher School’s student quality is a major component of the School’s elite standing. Fisher undergraduates had an average GPA of 3.52, and their performance on the CPA Exam—combined with Fisher’s master’s students—resulted in an 85.5 percent pass rate. That performance ranked the Fisher School third in the nation among 271 large academic institutions, and fourth among all 821 academic institutions that had students attempt the exam.

The Fisher School’s undergraduate program was also recently honored in Public Accounting Report’s (PAR) 35th Annual Survey of Accounting Professors where it ranked seventh among U.S. public programs. When the Fisher School was measured against all accounting schools—public and private—with similar faculty sizes (16 to 21 professors), its undergraduate program ranked third.
