US News ranks Heavener School of Business 16th in the nation among publics

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Heavener School of Business at the Warrington College of Business Administration ranked 16th among all U.S. public undergraduate business programs in U.S. News & World Report’s “2014 Best Colleges” issue.

The Heavener School of Business, which ranked 27th among public and private undergraduate business programs, also placed in the top 10 in five specialty categories. The Heavener School placed fourth in Real Estate (seventh overall), fifth in Quantitative Analysis (ninth overall), sixth in Accounting (11th overall), eighth in Finance (13th overall) and ninth in Marketing (12th overall).

The Heavener School experienced a sharp rise in the U.S. News rankings improving five spots among public schools and nine places overall.

“The most recent U.S. News rankings are indicative of the outstanding students who matriculate at the Heavener School, our world-class faculty which teaches them and the exemplary student services professionals that work extremely hard to enhance our students’ undergraduate experience,” said Horace S. Tucker, Acting Associate Dean and Director of the Heavener School of Business. “We are also very fortunate to have alumni like Bill Heavener invest in our students and their future success.”

The strong showing in the U.S. News rankings was the latest impressive result for the Heavener School in national rankings. In March, the Heavener School ranked 15th among U.S. public undergraduate programs in Bloomberg Businessweek’s 2013 “Best Undergraduate Business Schools” edition.

U.S. News surveyed deans and senior faculty at each undergraduate business program accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Business school deans and faculty – two at each AACSB-accredited business program – were surveyed in spring 2013 for this ranking.

Participants were asked to rate the quality of all programs they were familiar with on a scale from 1 (marginal) to 5 (distinguished). The undergraduate business school and business specialty rankings are based solely on the results of this peer survey.
