Fisher celebrates top accounting students at spring awards banquet

The Fisher School of Accounting recognized its top students at the spring awards banquet on April 17, held at the Hilton University of Florida Conference Center. Allison Hinaman (MAcc ’25) was named the Chrislynn Freed Master of Accounting Outstanding Student of the Year, the highest honor awarded to a Fisher student.

“I felt so proud and grateful,” Hinaman said. “This distinction is such a big honor, and it means so much to be recognized for my hard work throughout my time in this program.”

“This award feels like a culmination of my college experience and the perfect way to celebrate my accomplishments as my time at UF comes to an end,” she said. “I was able to speak with Chrislynn Freed at the banquet, and she is such an impressive woman. I carry this award with pride knowing that it holds her legacy, and it serves as further motivation to represent the Fisher School well in all that I do.”

Hinaman will graduate in May 2025 and begin her career with the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) in Norwalk, Connecticut, as part of their one-year Postgraduate Technical Assistant (PTA) program.

“I am so thankful that the Fisher School nominated me and supported me throughout my journey applying to the FASB PTA program. I feel incredibly honored and excited to get to participate in such a prestigious program,” Hinaman said.

Reflecting on her preparation, Hinaman credits the Fisher School’s rigorous curriculum and supportive community.

“This program provides us with a strong foundation of technical knowledge in so many areas of accounting, and we also hone our research, communication, and teamwork abilities through various cases and group projects,” she said. “I feel prepared for my future endeavors knowing that I have built up a wealth of knowledge and skills during my time at Fisher.”

The Fisher School also recognizes several other students for their accomplishments. The complete list of winners is below.
