Fisher honors outstanding students at annual award banquet

Hallie Neal holds an award. Hallie Neal (MAcc ’24) was named the Chrislynn Freed Master of Accounting Outstanding Student of the Year at the Fisher School of Accounting Spring Awards Banquet on April 16 at the Hilton University of Florida Conference Center. The award is selected by the faculty and is the highest honor awarded to a Fisher student.

“I am so honored and humbled that I was chosen for the Chrislynn Freed Master of Accounting Outstanding Student of the Year award,” she exclaimed. “For the past five years, I have been surrounded by so many excellent students at UF. Being part of this class has pushed me to grow academically, professionally and [personally].

“I feel especially grateful to Chrislynn Freed after speaking with her at the awards ceremony for the impact she has had on so many accounting students and for her heart behind the award.”

Following graduation this spring, Neal will begin her career as a tax accountant at James Moore & Co. in Tallahassee, Florida. After interning at James Moore in Gainesville, she looks forward to continuing with the company in her hometown.

“I am so thankful to all my professors and classmates in the Master of Accounting program who have made my UF experience memorable,” she said. “I not only learned plenty of technical accounting knowledge, but I also learned how to research, network and work on a team. I know I am well-prepared for life after college because of the rigor of the coursework and the practical application that professors worked into our classes.”

The Fisher School also recognizes a number of other students for their accomplishments. The complete list of winners is below.
