UF awards Andrea Handal as 2024-25 Kathleen Brown Retail Student of the Year
Andrea Handal has been honored as the Kathleen Brown Retail Student of the Year for 2024-25. Driven by a passion for retail, she chose to major in marketing with a minor in retail, while also working toward a combined MS-Marketing degree. Her dedication towards retail has flourished with her involvement with the Miller Retail Center.
In her sophomore year, Handal was awarded the NRF Rising Star scholarship, allowing her to attend the NRF Student Program and Big Show in New York City. There, she had the opportunity to hear from various influential industry leaders and network with some of the nation’s brightest retail students. Her dedication earned her another invitation during her junior year, further deepening her passion for the industry.
Handal’s devotion extended into her college summers, where she gained hands-on experience working at a local boutique in her hometown of Miami, FL, studying Fashion Retail Management at the Florence University of the Arts in Italy, and interning as a buying intern at Macy’s corporate headquarters in New York City.
Handal currently serves as the President of the Retail Society, where she oversees learning and networking activities for students interested in the retail industry. Although her time at UF is coming to an end, she remains eager to see the progress that the Miller Retail Center makes in the future. Handal proudly announced that she is incredibly honored to be selected as the UF Miller Retail Center’s Retail Student of the Year and to have found such a wonderful, brilliant niche to grow with over the last four years.
