Warrington international students recognized for achievement
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Four students from the Warrington College of Business received the University of Florida’s International Center’s Outstanding International Student Award on Nov. 17.
The Outstanding International Student Award recognizes international students who not only meet exemplary academic achievement, but also a wide range of accomplishments and contributions.
Warrington’s recipients are:
Catalina Angeli (MIB, ’16): Angeli, who is scheduled to receive her Master of International Business in Spring 2016, carries a 3.75 GPA. A native of Argentina, Angeli has earned a Certificate in New Venture Creation, and is pursuing certificates in Tourism and Hospitality Business Management from the Hough Graduate School of Business and Latin American Studies from UF’s Center for Latin American Studies. Angeli has completed internships with Transperfect, a translations services company based in New York City; and Grupo Transatlántica, an international travel and tourism company. Angeli, who currently works as a Refusal Convertor for UF’s Survey Research Center, has also studied at ESC Rennes School of Business (France) and Aston University (England). She received her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Universidad Austral in Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina.
Gulver Karamemis (MS ’08, MA ’11, Ph.D. ’16): Karamemis is pursuing a Ph.D. in Information Systems and Operations Management. She has already earned master’s degrees from UF in Statistics, and Industrial and Systems Engineering. A native of Turkey, Karamemis has served as an Instructor for Managerial Operations Analysis 2 and a Statistics lab course, as well as a Teaching Assistant for 12 courses since 2011. Karamemis has been a Financial Engineering Consultant at American Optimal Decisions, Inc., in Gainesville; a Research Trainee at Arcelik, A.S., a household appliances manufacturer in Istanbul; and completed two internships in Istanbul at BSH Home Appliances and Pasabahce Glass Industry and Trade.
Zhe Shen (BSBA ’16): Shen, who is majoring in finance, has a 3.88 GPA. She received her bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting and Management from the University of Nottingham in Ningbo, China. Shen completed a marketing internship with Dinneract Inc., which created the world’s first community powered food social shopping app, in San Jose, Calif., and also served as an Office Assistant for Shanghai Investment Developing Company. She is also a member of UF’s International Business Society where she serves as its Community Service Director.
Valeria Volkova (BSBA ’18): Volkova is a finance major, and has a 3.82 GPA. A native of Russia, Volkova earned an International Baccalaureate Diploma from United World College in Santa Ana, Costa Rica. She is a member of Florida Leadership Academy, which recognizes the top 100 sophomores at Warrington; a Professional Development Director for the Warrington Welcome Council; a Warrington Welcome Peer Leader; and a Recruitment Director for the Global Business Society.
