In Memoriam | June 2022

Clarence “CT” Todd | BSAc ’57 | 1932-2022 | Todd, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed on May 7. He found the loves of his life in college, the first one being Betti Gloria, who he later married, and the second one being Gator Football, at the University of Florida. He shared his love for fishing, duck hunting, and western movies with his five children and eight grandchildren. 

Robert “Bob” Cleveland | BSBA ’59 | 1933-2022 | Cleveland, of Ormond Beach, Florida, passed on May 20. He worked at the Atlantic Bank in Jacksonville before enlisting in the Navy in 1953, where he served aboard the USS Coral Sea during the Korean War. Following the war he worked for Lockheed in Atlanta, GA, for a short period before entering the University of Florida in Gainesville (always a Gator Fan) and was active in the Theta Chi Fraternity. He had a successful management career in the trucking industry, first with Great Southern Trucking which became Ryder Truck Lines.

Daniel Koivu | BSAc ’59 | 1937-2021 | Koivu, of Winter Park, Florida, passed on March 22, 2021.

Robert “Bob” Rowe | BSBA ’62 | 1940-2022 | Rowe, of Ocala, Florida, passed on April 30. He spent his professional life as a highly respected attorney, primarily in Atlanta. He practiced law until the age of 80. Despite his affiliation with Georgia, he remained an ardent Gator fan throughout his life.

Henry Boekhoff | BSBA ’66, M.Ed. ’70, Ed.D. ’78 | 1943-2022 | Boekhoff, of DeLand, Florida, passed on June 15.

Sandra Coyer | BSAc ’76 | 1953-2021 | Coyer, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed on July 23, 2021. She did paralegal studies at UNC and worked as a VP Internal Audit Director at First Union Corp until she went into real estate as a broker with Keller Williams.  

Russ Battiato | BSAc ’77 | 1954-2022 | Battiato passed May 25. He was a Homestead, Florida accountant for over 45 years and well-known by the community.

Anthony “Bruce” Kujawa | BSBA ’80, MBA ’83 | 1958-2022 | Kujawa, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed on May 4. Originally from Jacksonville, he returned after graduating from UF and began work at Blue Cross Blue Shield, launching a long career as a Director and VP at several healthcare service companies in Jacksonville. He also served as a religion teacher at his Bishop Kenny for several years.

Karen Dyer | BSAc ’84, JD ’87 | 1964-2022 | Dyer, of Orlando, Florida, passed June 16. She was a highly regarded trial lawyer, whose passion and skill were well known nationwide. During her career, she clerked for the Honorable G. Kendall Sharp and practiced law with Carlton Fields, became a founding partner of Boies, Schiller and Flexner law firm, and recently become a shareholder of Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP. She was known professionally for her indefatigable preparation, wit and courtroom determination.

Curtis McCellan | BSBA ’85 | 1960-2022 | McCellan, of Black Mountain, North Carolina, passed on May 8. Originally from Jacksonville, Florida, he joined Ring Power Corporation just after college and stayed with Ring Power for 28 years and served in many roles. If given his choice, he would still be at Ring Power today.

Grady Elwell | BSBA ’98, MBA ’05 | 1975-2022 | Elwell, of Oviedo, Florida, passed on May 24. He spent 22 years at Lockheed Martin, where he was known for his attention to detail, empathetic management style and loyalty to his teams.
