UF Retail Society to host fashion designer Steve Madden on Monday
The UF Retail Society, in partnership with CollegeFashionista, will host renowned fashion designer Steve Madden for a Q&A session on Oct. 24 at Norman Hall (Room 137).
The discussion, led by CollegeFashionista Founder Amy Levin, will focus on entrepreneurship, fashion, and Madden’s iconic career.
Madden, who began his fashion career in 1990 with a mere $1,100 investment, has developed one of the most iconic brands in footwear. He came to prominence in the early 1990s when he introduced a platform shoe inspired by his favorite rocks stars of the 1970s. His famous chunky platform shoes were a huge success and have become a Madden hallmark. The Steve Madden brand has since expanded into handbags and accessories, and is sold in more than 80 countries worldwide.
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. Attendees will receive $10 Uber vouchers, and a gift card for a post-event shopping party at Dillard’s in The Oaks Mall from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Admission is free, but attendees must RSVP for the event.
