University of Florida faculty member appointed Senior Editor of prestigious accounting journal

Dr. Jennifer Wu Tucker, Cook/Deloitte professor at the Warrington College of Business, was recently appointed Senior Editor of the Accounting Horizons academic journal.

Accounting Horizons is one of three association-wide journals published by the American Accounting Association (AAA), alongside The Accounting Review and Issues in Accounting Education. As an academic research journal, Accounting Horizons publishes rigorous research addressing timely issues in accounting practice.

“The journal contributes to the vision of building a learned profession for the future by purposeful integration of accounting research, education and practice for students, practitioners and educators,” Tucker said. “I am excited about being part of Accounting Horizons because it is a unique accounting journal that bridges academic research with accounting practice. This is a great opportunity for me to serve the accounting profession, which I love so much.”

Tucker will begin her three-year term as Senior Editor in June 2024. In her role, she will screen submitted articles to confirm that they match the publication criteria: rigorous research addressing current and future issues in accounting. As Senior Editor, Tucker will also be able to commission special editions, thought pieces, historical reviews, original research and more. One of her goals for her term is to increase the journal’s value to academics and practitioners by encouraging dialogues, maintaining the rigor of academic research and expediting the journal review process.

The appointment of Senior Editor is a testament to Tucker’s excellence in and dedication to the practice of accounting. In addition to having published many of her own research studies, Tucker has furthered the work of her colleagues by reviewing their accounting research studies throughout her career. Currently, she passes on her knowledge and experience by teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses at the University of Florida.

“I was fortunate to start my academic career at the University of Florida in 2004,” she said. “The University, especially the Warrington College of Business, has shaped me into who I am today. I have learned a lot from the conversations with Gator alumni, students and colleagues and benefitted greatly from the financial support of the Gator Nation and the mentoring of senior colleagues.

“Accounting is an applied discipline. As a Gator, I am proud to follow the footsteps of those who have served the profession in a large role, such as Joel Demski, a past president of the AAA, and Rashad Abdel-Khalik and Robert Knechel, past Senior Editors of the AAA’s top academic journal, The Accounting Review.”
