Warrington doctoral student, post-doc recognized during Experiential Classroom
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Susana Santos, a Post-Doctoral Associate in Warrington’s Department of Finance, Insurance and Real Estate; and Diana Shao, a Ph.D. candidate in Finance, were recognized for exemplary teaching during the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center’s Experiential Classroom on Sept. 17-20.
Santos and Shao were members of one of the Experiential Classroom’s top two teaching teams. The teams were selected by a faculty committee.
Santos joined the College in 2015. Her research interests are the cognitive and psychosocial processes of entrepreneurship at the individual and team level. Santos, who earned a Ph.D. in Human Resources Management, Development and Organizational Behavior from Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (ISCTE-IUL) in Lisbon, Portugal, has been published in numerous international journals, including the International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behavior & Research, the Journal of Entrepreneurship and the International Journal of Entrepreneurship & Innovation among others.
Shao is a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate. She received a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Banking from Beijing Forestry University, and a master’s degree in Finance from Georgia State University. Her research interests are corporate finance, capital markets, anomalies and market efficiency.
The Experiential Classroom, now in its 16th year, is an annual teaching clinic that shares the best practices in entrepreneurship education with faculty from around the world. More than 900 faculty members have attended this intense, three-day clinic.
The 2015 Experiential Classroom welcomed 73 delegates representing India, Korea, Nigeria, Trinidad & Tobago, Turkey, United Kingdom and the United States. Topics included “Transforming Your Teaching with Technology,” “Creating an Innovative Classroom,” “Teaching the Social Entrepreneurship Course: Empowering Students to Change the World” and many more.
