Fisher School ranks in top 5 among U.S. public undergraduate programs
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – U.S. News & World Report ranked the Fisher School of Accounting’s undergraduate program fifth among U.S. public programs in its “2016 Best Colleges” edition released Wednesday.
The Fisher School’s undergraduate program ranked 10th overall, and was the only program from the state of Florida recognized in the accounting specialty.
“The students, faculty and staff are the essence of the program,” said Dr. Gary McGill, J. Roy Duggan Professor, Director and Associate Dean. “Each group uniquely contributes to the quality of our programs. I’m delighted to see their dedication recognized with this ranking.”
The quality of undergraduate students at the Fisher School is exemplary. Incoming (Fall 2014) undergraduate students had an average GPA of 3.7. Additionally, 58 Fisher undergraduates took part or the entire CPA exam in 2014. Their performance, along with the scores of 25 Fisher graduate students, gave the Fisher School a passing rate of 82.9% (the national average pass rate for first-time candidates was 55% in 2014). The Fisher School’s pass rate was sixth in the nation among the 254 large academic institutions, and eighth among all academic institutions.
In addition to recognition from U.S. News & World Report, the Fisher School’s undergraduate program was lauded in Public Accounting Report’s (PAR) 34th Annual Survey of Accounting Professors in August. The Fisher School’s undergraduate program was ranked 10th among U.S. public programs and fourth among public programs with medium-size faculty (16 to 21 full-time accounting professors).
