Kelly Chen is completing her Master of Science in Marketing at the University of Florida. After graduation, she will join Bank of America as a Credit Analyst in New York City.

Q: Tell us about yourself. 

Chen: “My name is Kelly Chen, and I’m an out-of-state Gator originally from New Jersey. I was part of the combination program at UF, which allowed me to complete the MSMAR degree while still in undergrad. Although my academic focus has been marketing, I’ve had the opportunity to gain experience in both marketing and finance. One of my personal goals is to live abroad at some point in my 20s.”

Q: What was your undergraduate major, and why the MSMAR Program?

Chen: “My undergraduate major was in marketing with a minor in economics. I decided to pursue the MSMAR program for its focus on marketing analytics, which is a future career aspiration of mine.”

Q: What is the best thing you like about the MSMAR program?

Chen: “I really enjoy the program’s option to pursue the marketing analytics track, as well as the flexibility to choose electives outside of traditional marketing. It gave me the chance to explore new areas and tailor the program to my interests.”

Q: What are your plans after graduation? 

Chen: “After graduation, I plan to work as a Credit analyst at Bank of America in NYC.”

Q: How did the MSMAR program help you?

Chen: “MSMAR helped me develop an analytical mindset and communications skills that would translate into any business role.”

Q: What is your advice to other online students looking at the MSMAR program?

Chen: “My advice would be to take full advantage of the flexibility the program offers. You should choose courses that truly interest you, while also balancing them with ones that align with your career goals. MSMAR offers a broad range of classes to support many different paths within marketing.”
