UF MBA wins Katz Invitational Case Competition
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – UF MBA at the Hough Graduate School of Business won the 2016 Katz Invitational Case Competition on Jan. 29-30 at the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz Graduate School of Business.
UF MBA’s team of Lexie Cegelski, John Darnell, Megan Lehman and Jonathan Siragusa bested the 12-team field, and earned $10,000. The University of Pittsburgh finished second and won $5,000, and Baylor University took third place and $3,000.
The 12 teams were evenly divided into four divisions, and gave 20-minute, first-round presentations involving a current issue within the energy industry. The division winners advanced to the final round where they again made 20-minute presentations on the same topic.
The event’s other participants were Babson College, Carnegie Mellon, LSU, Penn State, Purdue, University of Buffalo, University of Maryland, University of Notre Dame and West Virginia University.
UF MBA’s victory continues the program’s impressive run in case competitions. In 2014-15, UF MBA won the Florida Intercollegiate Business Case Competition and the Southeastern Conference (SEC) MBA Case Competition. UF MBA has won eight case competitions since 2013.
UF MBA next competes in the 2016 Florida Intercollegiate Business Case Competition on Feb. 11-13 at the University of South Florida.
