Student Spotlight: Kevin Alvarez

Kevin Alvarez is a current student in the Master of International Business (MIB) program. Read on to see why Alvarez chose to pursue his master’s degree in international business, what he will be doing post-graduation and more.

Q: Tell us about your background.

Alvarez: “I am an undergraduate from UF in Economics and International Studies. I am from Weston, Florida, and I like hiking and watching soccer.”

Q: Why did you join the MIB program?

Alvarez: “I joined the MIB program to be able to further my academic experience and intern at Wells Fargo Securities.” 

Q: What do you enjoy the most in the MIB program?

Alvarez: “What I enjoy the most about the MIB experience is the ability to get an international perspective in finance.”

Q: What advice do you have for current UF undergraduate students who are thinking of doing the MIB program?

Alvarez: “My advice is to push yourselves every day to be the best version of yourself. Aim high and your dividends will soon follow.”

Alvarez: “I have had 3 internships so far: Merchandising Planning at Macys, Asset Management Summer Analyst at Goldman Sachs, and Investment Banking Summer Analyst at Wells Fargo Securities. I was also a brother at Phi Delta Theta, a member in The Founders Fund, and involved in Student Government and the Interfraternity Council (IFC).”

Q: What are you doing after graduation?

Alvarez: “I will be joining Perella Weinberg in New York City as an Investment Banking Analyst doing either Mergers & Acquisition or Restructuring.”

Q: Where do you see yourself 5 years from today?

Alvarez: “I see myself becoming more entrenched in my career and gaining more knowledge about finance and global markets.”

Q: Tell us 3 cool things about you.

Alvarez: “I have a trip planned next year to take a train across the country and visit a variety of National Parks, I have backpacked Europe, and I love traveling.”
