Uniting for excellence | Mario Agosto

Mario Agosto has grown up around real estate. After moving from Puerto Rico to Ocala when he was eight years old, both of his parents worked in the industry.

Agosto made the short trip north to attend the University of Florida, where he majored in criminology and law with a minor in urban and regional planning. He’s currently a student in the Nathan S. Collier Master of Science in Real Estate program.

As an undergraduate student, Agosto was the student body vice president at UF. Since enrolling in the MSRE program, he has found a new community of professionals that will benefit his future career.

“It was easy to find (my community) because the classes are really interactive, and it was really easy to meet other students,” Agosto said. “I was just shocked at how everybody wanted to help. There were certain times where I wasn’t having the interaction that I was used to when I was in undergrad and so involved, but then I started having conversations with faculty members and program coordinators. They were able to plug me in quickly.”

Agosto was focused on law school as an undergraduate student and wanted to eventually practice real estate law while having his own ventures on the side. Instead, he wanted to make real estate his full-time career. He has accepted a full-time job offer in South Florida where he will work in real estate acquisitions and development.

“For me to say that I’m a graduate of the University of Florida and the Warrington College of Business, that’s something I’m very proud of,” Agosto said. “I know that speaks volumes as I go forward.”
