Warrington honors four with teaching, advising awards

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Professors David Ling and Adam B. Munson joined Associate Director of Master of International Business Dena Roberts and academic advisor and career coach Leigh Smadbeck as the recipients of the College’s 2016-2017 Teaching/Advising Awards.

DAVID LING: Dr. Ling teaches courses in commercial real estate finance and investment at the graduate level and serves as Director of the Master of Science in Real Estate (MSRE) program. His academic and professional publications have included articles on housing policy and economics, mortgage markets and pricing, private commercial real estate investments, publicly traded real estate companies, and performance evaluation. In 2000, he was elected and served as President of the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association (AREUEA), an international organization for academics who work in the areas of real estate and urban economics. He received his Ph.D. from Ohio State University in 1984, MBA from Ohio State University in 1977 and B.S.B.A from Central Michigan University in 1976.

ADAM MUNSON: Dr. Munson is a Lecturer in the department of Information Systems and Operations Management at the University of Florida. He earned his Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Florida and also holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Aquatic Ecology, and an M.B.A from the Warrington College of Business. He also is licensed as a professional engineer in the discipline of industrial engineering. Munson teaches the undergraduate core course Operations and Supply Chain Management as well as a variety of graduate classes on the topics of optimization modeling, empirical modeling, production and operations management, business database systems and project management. Before coming to UF, Adam was engaged first in the public sector and then as a consultant in research on development of environmental constraints for the purpose of water supply planning and alternative water resource development.

DENA ROBERTS: Roberts is an Associate Director for the Master of International Business program. She is involved in the advising, admissions and recruiting process for the program of approximately 200 students. She also assists with taking the students abroad every semester for the Global Immersion Experience course.

LEIGH SMADBECK: Smadbeck joined the Heavener School’s Academic Advising & Career Coaching team in 2014, and has made outstanding contributions to the advising team’s effectiveness. She was recognized for her profound impact on students and innovative approach to advising. She was instrumental in planning the Heavener School’s first Human Library event for first-year students, and she served as the primary advisor for business students in the PaCE program, establishing best practices for advising online students transitioning to campus.
