Fisher School remains among the top 10 best public undergraduate accounting programs, according to US News
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Fisher School of Accounting’s undergraduate program was named No. 7 among U.S. public programs as part of U.S. News & World Report’s “2022 Best Colleges” edition released Monday.
Overall, the Fisher School was ranked the No. 12 program in the U.S., maintaining its top 15 status among all undergraduate accounting programs in the nation. The Fisher School also continues to be the No. 1 ranked undergraduate accounting program in the state of Florida by U.S. News & World Report.
U.S. News & World Report also reported on Monday that for the fifth year in a row, the University of Florida has risen in the Top Public Schools rankings, reaching the No. 5 position, an extraordinary milestone in the university’s history. UF’s steady climb exemplifies a unified and sustained commitment at all levels, from Gov. Ron DeSantis, the Florida Legislature, our congressional representatives, the Board of Governors and the UF Board of Trustees to the thousands of students, faculty, staff, alumni and donors who strive daily to contribute to the university’s culture of excellence and integrity in learning, discovery and invention.
UF has advanced a record nine spots on the public university list since 2017. On the U.S. News National Universities list, which includes both public and private institutions, UF ranked No. 28, a rise of 22 spots during the same period.
“It’s a continued honor to receive strong rankings from U.S. News & World Report,” said Gary McGill, Senior Associate Dean of the Warrington College of Business, Director of the Fisher School of Accounting and J. Roy Duggan Professor. “These strong rankings reflect the quality of the Fisher School of Accounting students, faculty, staff and programs. We thank them for their commitment to excellence.”
The strength of the Fisher School’s undergraduate program and student quality play a key role in its ranking from U.S. News. The most recent Fisher graduating class continues the tradition of 99% job placement by graduation, and Fisher master’s students have a distinguished combined passing rate of 86.4% on the CPA Exam. This performance puts Fisher sixth in the nation among 247 large academic institutions in passing rate, and tenth in the nation among all 758 academic institutions in passing rate.
For student Sofia Gomez (BSAc ’22, MAcc ’22), the education she’s received from the Fisher School has set her up for success in her two internships with Ernst & Young as well as her future career.
“The Fisher School’s rigorous course load has challenged me academically and provided me with the tools and opportunities to grow as an individual,” Gomez said. “I am grateful to my professors for their guidance and inspiration.”
To calculate these rankings, U.S. News surveyed deans and senior faculty members at each of the 514 undergraduate business programs accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) in the spring and early summer of 2021. Specifically, U.S. News asked deans and senior faculty to nominate up to 15 of the best programs among each specialty area, including accounting. A school had to receive seven or more top-15 nominations in a specific specialty area to be included on the list.
