I graduated from Florida State University in May 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. I had been passionate about music my entire life, and was unsure of my career goals, so being a music major seemed perfect for me. I earned a minor in business as well, and decided I wanted more experience before making any decisions about my career. I had seen an advertisement for UF’s Master of Science in Management program, and it seemed like exactly what I was looking for.
The MSM program helped me in so many ways. Because I was in a music program, I had never received much assistance in resume writing, interviewing and knew absolutely nothing about LinkedIn. Warrington’s Business Career Services helped me with all of this and exposed me to the different jobs out there in which I could be successful. They connected me with previous graduates who were able to give me a realistic job preview of the positions I was looking at.
My advice to all MSM students is to utilize the resources available to you and be open to a variety of experiences! As a student with a bit of an odd background, I never expected to be working and excelling at Amazon. The work I have done has been immensely difficult, but I have learned so much and gained invaluable experience with this amazing company.
For all music majors, the MSM program is perfect no matter what your goal is in life. Whether you want to move into music production, management, or want to get out of music altogether, MSM can give you all the opportunities you need to be successful.
