Real estate executive director named Bergstrom Center’s Alumnus of the Year
ORLANDO, Fla. – Ted McGowan was honored as the Kelley A. Bergstrom Real Estate Center’s 2022 Alumnus of the Year at its annual Trends & Strategies Conference at Waldorf Astoria Orlando.
McGowan is the Executive Director of Clay County Port, Inc. and Reynolds Real Estate Ventures. He serves as COO of both for 24 years and oversees their operations in Florida and Virginia.
“What an unexpected honor,” McGowan said of receiving the award. “I am grateful to be part of such an active board that has made the University of Florida Bergstrom Center among the best in the country.”
“I have had the opportunity to lead three Capstone projects over the past 20 years including the 2020 and 2021 classes. It is a rewarding opportunity to interface with the students in this capacity. I have stayed in touch with several as they advance in their careers. Dr. Archer has led the Capstone class for decades, so it was delightful to have gotten to work with him as he moves into retirement. All things UF Bergstrom Center lead back to Dr. Wayne Archer. There is no adequate way to thank you for all that you have done, Wayne. Best wishes.”
McGowan graduated from Jacksonville’s Bolles School and received his bachelor’s degree from UF in Environmental Engineering. He has been a Florida Building Contractor and Realtor for 38 years. He and his wife, Nancy Peek McGowan, have five children. Nancy is a legacy Gator and four of their children are also University of Florida alumni and all five are involved professionally in real estate.
McGowan spent 13 years with the St. Joe Company, Arvida and The Nemours Foundation. In addition to the Bergstrom Real Estate Center Advisory Board, he currently sits on the boards of the Jacksonville St. Vincent Hospital Foundation, The Clay County Economic Development Corporation and the North Florida Land Trust.
McGowan joins 16 other individuals that have been named Alumnus of the Year. The Bergstrom Center’s Alumnus of the Year award is given to a UF graduate who has made an impactful and sustained contribution to real estate education at the University of Florida. All recipients are friends of the Center who have gone above and beyond to grow the presence of UF’s Real Estate program.
