Heavener School adds three exceptional students to Hall of Fame
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Joey Couture, Luis Franco and Cara Grandstaff, seniors at the Heavener School of Business, were inducted into the Heavener Hall of Fame.
The Heavener Hall of Fame is reserved for undergraduate business students who have shown truly superior leadership and achievement through their activities and scholarship while members of the College community. Eligible students must have a minimum 3.5 UF GPA and be in good standing with UF. Students are also judged on scholarship, campus leadership, campus involvement, and service to the College or UF.
Couture, a Finance major with minors in Actuarial Science and Spanish, had a 3.99 GPA while being one of the Heavener School’s most involved students. He was a member and mentor in Florida Leadership Academy, a year-long development program for the College’s top 100 sophomores; served as a Career & Academic Peer Mentor, helping students acquire internships; participated in the Business Undergraduate Mentorship Program, where student leaders guide underclassmen; and served in numerous roles, including President, of the Student Finance Group—the Heavener School’s largest student organization. He also helped lead Heavener’s Case Competition team to three final-round appearances, and served as Director of Logistics on the Organizing Committee for the inaugural Heavener International Case Competition.
Couture also interned in General Electric’s Financial Management Program in 2015. He begins a full-time role as a Strategy and Operations Analyst with Deloitte Federal Consulting in Washington, D.C. after graduation.
Franco, who will receive a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Accounting, had a 3.58 GPA. He served as a Mentor in the Business Undergraduate Mentorship Program, a member and mentor of Florida Leadership Academy, and Outreach Director of the Student Investment Club among other roles. Franco—an accomplished participant in international case competitions—served as President of the Heavener International Case Competition Organizing Committee, where he oversaw an event that involved 80 competitors from four continents.
Franco served as an Audit Intern at Crowe Horwath in 2014, and a Process Consultant at Protiviti in 2015. He will continue his career at Protiviti as a Consultant in the firm’s Fort Lauderdale office after graduation.
Grandstaff, a Finance major who minored in Real Estate, had a 3.99 GPA. She was a member of Florida Leadership Academy, where she served as Chief of Staff for Class XII; served as a Career & Academic Peer Mentor, where she set a program record of 178 appointments in one year; was a Peer Mentor and Peer Leader for Warrington Welcome, the Heavener School’s impactful, one-credit course freshmen; and was a Tour Director for the Warrington Diplomats—the College’s ambassadors—among other activities.
Grandstaff interned in General Electric’s Financial Management Program in 2015. She will begin her full-time career as a Process Consultant at Protiviti in Washington, D.C. after graduation.
