Christopher Johnson (BS ’05, MS ’07, MBA ’10) | March 2021

Johnson (BS 2005, MS 2007, MBA 2010) is Senior Social Responsibility Specialist at The Mosaic Company. He is also a board member at the Nonprofit Leadership Center (NLC) and co-leads the NLC’s diversity committee.  He recently shared tips for leaders who want to authentically embrace diversity, equity and inclusion. N. Dan Nelson (BSBA ’91) | March 2021

Colonel Nelson (BSBA 1991) retired after combined 30 years of service in the active U.S. Army and Army Reserve. His last assignment was as Liaison Officer to the German Military. He was commissioned an Officer through the UF ROTC program and was recently awarded the Legion of Merit.

Leon (BSBA 2006) was named Head of Product at Startup Space, the leading innovative platform for entrepreneurship community building. She will lead the vision around Startup Space’s portfolio of web, mobile, and data solutions for ecosystem builders. Her focus will be to analyze present and future client and member journeys in order to craft value-driven user experiences of continuous engagement and growth. Philip Garton (DBA ’20) | February 2021

Garton (DBA 2020) is Chief Financial Officer at Shoals Technologies Group, a leading provider of electrical balance of systems solutions for coal, storage and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.  Shoals recently debuted on the public markets, delivering the year’s second-biggest IPO and largest renewable energy IPO in history. 

Kathleen Plinske (MBA ’12) | February 2021

Plinske (MBA 2012) was recently named the next president of Valencia College in Orlando. She is the fifth and first female president of Valencia.  Previously, Dr. Plinske served as Executive Vice President and Provost and as Campus President of the Osceola, Lake Nona, and Poinciana Campuses at Valencia College. Prior to joining Valencia in 2010, Dr. Plinske began her career at McHenry County College, a community college in her hometown of Crystal Lake, Illinois. She was hired as an Instructional

David Hidalgo (MBA ’19) | February 2021

Hidalgo (MBA 2019) is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist with Envision Physician Services. He is a member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetist, National Firewood Association and the South Lake Chamber of Commerce. He was recently appointed to the Lake-Sumter State College District Board of Trustees by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. 

Lisa McAlister (BSBA ’04, MBA ’10) | February 2021

McAlister (BSBA 2004, MBA 2010) is Global Myopia Lead at Johnson & Johnson Vision. She and her team are working on a solution to help patients with myopia. Nermine Khouzam Rubin (MBA ’86, MHS ’86, BS ’83) | February 2021

Khouzam Rubin (MBA 1986, MHS 1986, BS 1983) Founded Water 4 Mercy(W4M) a 501(c)3 nonprofit in 2018 whose Mission is To Uphold Human Dignity by Eradicating Thirst, Hunger & Poverty. In just 2 years over 20,000 people’s lives have dramatically improved for generations to come. Now W4M’s AITEC-Agricultural Innovation & Technology Center-a partnership between Embassy–Israel in Kenya, Israeli Tech & the largest Catholic skills training school in the world is enabling Africa to be food secure within 3-5 yrs. Shasta Almi (BSBA ’05) | February 2021

Almi (BSBA 2005) is Marketing & Public Relations Coordinator at the International School of Monaco.  Over the past ten years, she has worked in education, communications, advertising and digital marketing for a range of industries in Monaco. Alice Bonaime (Ph.D. ’08) | January 2021

Bonamine (Ph.D. 2008) is Associate Professor of Finance and Philip Rhoads Fellow in Finance at the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona.  Prior to joining Eller, she taught at the University of Kentucky. Her research interests include empirical corporate finance, payout policy, insider trading and mergers and acquisitions. She recently topped the list of most cited scholars in the Journal of Financial Economics since 2018.
