Warrington faculty member receives prestigious military award for research excellence
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Dr. Brian Ray, Director of the Poe Business Ethics Center and Senior Lecturer of Leadership and Ethics, received the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Writing from the Joint Forces Staff College. The award recognizes senior military officers for excellence in academic research and analysis. Dr. Ray, who serves as a Colonel in the Army Reserve, co-authored a paper entitled, Harnessing Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems Across the Seven Joint Functions.
“It is a great honor to be recognized for research in my military career,” Dr. Ray said. “My 30 years of experience in the military has been a tremendous resource for teaching leadership and ethics at the Warrington College of Business. The research opportunities I have had at both the National Defense University as well as the U.S. Army War College have significantly benefited my development as a faculty member.”
Dr. Ray wrote his award-winning paper during his recent studies at the Joint Forces Staff College, an educational institution that educates senior military officers to creatively and effectively plan operational-level warfighting for joint and combined military forces while integrating other capabilities of the U.S. government, non-governmental organizations, and international partners to ensure success in uncertain and volatile operating environments.
