Marketing professor selected as Batten Fellow
City Furniture Professor Dr. Debanjan Mitra was selected as a 2015-16 Batten Fellow by the University of Virginia’s Batten Institute of Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
The Batten Fellows Program brings prominent and high-potential thought leaders to the Darden School of Business for short and long-term visits. Since 1999, the institute has supported more than 80 experts and promising pioneers in the areas of entrepreneurship and innovation.
The purpose of the program is to develop intellectual capital that cumulates in published articles, books and other publications, stimulate the intellectual life of the Batten Institute and the Darden School, to provide thought leadership and importance to managers, policy makers and the public, and to support work-related to current Batten Institute initiatives.
In addition, Dr. Mitra was chosen for the Emerald Citations of Excellence for 2015. Each year, Emerald Group Publishing awards certificated to highly cited papers relating to Business Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics and Marketing. Dr. Mitra was recognized for his work, “What is quality? An integrative framework of processes and states.” The article appeared in the Journal of Marketing in 2012.
Dr. Mitra earned a Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (1988), an Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management (1990), and a Ph.D. in Marketing from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business (2003). He has been a professor at the Warrington College of Business since 2003.
