Heavener School of Business rises in US News rankings

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Heavener School of Business improved to No. 17 among U.S. public undergraduate business programs in U.S. News & World Report’s “2017 Best Colleges” edition released Tuesday.

The Heavener School, which ranked 18th among publics last year, also climbed two spots to No. 27 among all U.S. undergraduate programs. It is the highest-ranking undergraduate business program in the state of Florida.

“It’s validating to see the Heavener School recognized as the state’s top-ranked undergraduate business school, and one of the best in the nation,” said Dr. Alex Sevilla, Associate Dean and Director of the Heavener School of Business. “We strive to offer our students an innovative and inspiring educational experience, and we’re pleased to see our efforts acknowledged.”

The Heavener School was also recognized in five specialty programs, and ranked in the top 10 among publics in four of them. It ranked fifth in Accounting and Real Estate, and eighth in Finance and Quantitative Analysis. The Heavener School also finished 11th in Entrepreneurship.

The Heavener School’s impressive standing in U.S. News’ rankings reflects the School’s commitment to providing students a dynamic and enriching experience. In addition to a rigorous and diverse curriculum, the Heavener School offers impactful career and leadership programs, more than 30 student organizations, study abroad opportunities on four continents, and numerous other experiential learning opportunities. Heavener students are also required to complete a study abroad experience or professional internship to graduate. These initiatives have resulted in Heavener students securing coveted full-time careers at some of the world’s top companies.

U.S. News surveyed deans and senior faculty at each undergraduate business program accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Business school deans and faculty—two at each AACSB-accredited business program— were surveyed in spring 2016 for this ranking. Participants were asked to rate the quality of all programs they were familiar with on a scale from 1 (marginal) to 5 (distinguished). The undergraduate business school and business specialty rankings are based solely on the results of this peer survey.
