Heavener student organizations

Student organizations at the Heavener School of Business provide students with leadership opportunities, practical business experience, and networking and community-building skills. These organizations enhance the student experience, while also create real-life change through impactful work with College, UF and community partners.

Here are some notable achievements from Heavener student organizations in 2016-2017:

Florida Business Leadership Society

The Florida Business Leadership Society (FBLS) has consistently been one of the top performing organizations at Heavener. Aimed at bringing together emerging student leaders looking to enhance their knowledge of all industries in business, the organization has high attendance, a diversified program of activities for its members, and was awarded Heavener’s Student Organization of the Year.

FBLS partnered with Study Edge to bring local entrepreneur Ethan Feldman to speak with students. It also gave back to eight non-profit organizations, recruited over 200 people to attend Business Bash, Warrington’s marquee student involvement fair, and sponsored the Faculty Student Luncheon with FIS, an international provider of financial services, technology and outsourcing services.

American Marketing Association

The UF Chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA), a student organization that helps members develop professionally and personally by providing them with hands-on marketing experience with local companies, networking opportunities with top corporations, and an engaging social atmosphere. UF’s chapter was the recipient of the Outstanding Membership Award at the AMA international collegiate conference. AMA doubled its member retention and saw significant increases in member attendance through its use of new marketing strategies including a texting service, Snapchat filters, and improved social media usage.

It was also honored as the Most Improved Student Organization by the Heavener School for showing the most improvement from the previous year using measurable metrics and providing a strategic plan, goals and objectives for its programs.

Gator Selling Professionals

The Heavener School recognizes the New Student Organization of the Year for its proven ability to provide members with a meaningful experience in its short time operating. Gator Selling Professionals developed when members saw a need to provide students with the training necessary to enable them to prosper and excel with companies and in the workforce through developing technical skills and refining personal brands.

The organization hosted a number of high-profile companies throughout the year including presentations from representatives at Hershey’s and Gartner, and a mixer during Heavener Career Week for students and recruiters from companies including Deloitte, Northwestern Mutual, Aldi and Keller Williams.
