Heavener students win case competition in Australia

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Four students from the Heavener School of Business won the inaugural Australian Undergraduate Business Case Competition in Brisbane, Australia.

Stephanie DioGuardi, Luis Franco, Shruti Shah and Brittany Wood competed against 15 schools hailing from 11 countries. The Heavener team was one of only two U.S. teams that competed.

The competition’s 16 teams were divided into four, four-team divisions, and each team presented three cases during the preliminary round. The cases were weighted as follows—Case 1: 20%; Case 2: 20%; Case 3: 60%. The four highest scoring teams advanced to the final.

The National University of Singapore finished in second place, the University of Belgrade (Serbia) finished third and the University of New South Wales (Australia) was fourth.

The Heavener School’s performance marked its second victory in an international case competition this year. Franco, Shah, Wood and Jason Nunnery won the Thammasat Undergraduate Business Challenge in August in Bangkok, Thailand.
