Student Spotlight: Raymond Buehner

After growing up and attending college in Pennsylvania, Raymond Buehner moved to Gainesville for the Master of International Business program.

Q: What is your degree program and when will you graduate?
Buehner: “I am currently completing the Master of International Business program and will graduate this Spring 2020 semester.”
Q: Where are you from originally?
Buehner: “I am originally from Pittsburgh, PA.”
Q: What are your other degrees and from what school?
Buehner: “I completed my bachelor’s degree at Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania. I majored in finance and minored in accounting.”
Q: When did you know you wanted to pursue a degree at Warrington, and why was it an interesting option for you?
Buehner: “While I was still working on my bachelor’s degree, I knew I wanted to go on to pursue a graduate degree program. After visiting the University of Florida, Warrington seemed to be the best fit in terms of the resources and opportunities that I was looking for in my career.”
Q: What’s the highlight of your time at Warrington?
Buehner: “The Global Immersion Experience that Master of International Business students go on was definitely the highlight of my time here at Warrington. I was able to go on the trip to Berlin, Germany this past fall, which was my first time traveling to Europe. The trip enabled us to visit several German companies and to be immersed in the culture. It was also amazing to just have time to explore the city and spend time with friends in a new location.”
Q: Do you know where you will you be working after graduation?
Buehner: “Yes, I have accepted an offer to work at MEDNAX in Fort Lauderdale, FL. I will start in their Analyst Rotation Program this upcoming summer.”
Q: What can we find you doing after class or on the weekend?
Buehner: “After class on weekdays, you can typically find me on a Bloomberg Terminal staying up to date on market news. On the weekends, I enjoy golfing and playing pick-up basketball. I also will spend time just biking around campus.”
Q: What’s a fact about you that might surprise other people?
Buehner: “I made my first stock trade when I was 14 years old and have been interested in finance ever since.”
Q: If you had $1 million, what would you do with it?
Buehner: “I would definitely invest most of it, but I would also want to use some of the money to travel. One country I would really like to visit some day is Switzerland. Traveling anywhere with friends and family though is always a great time.”
