Student Spotlight: Yasmin van Zanten

Yasmin van Zanten enrolled in the UF MBA program to make her more competitive for new professional opportunities. 

Learn more about what made Yasmin a standout student at the Warrington College of Business.

Q: What is your degree program and when will you graduate?

van Zanten: “I graduated with an MBA from UF in May 2020.”

Q: Where are you from originally?

van Zanten: “Caracas, Venezuela.”

Q: Are you in any student organizations? Do you hold any board positions?

van Zanten: “During my time in grad school at UF, I was honored to serve as the president of the Hispanic Business Student Association and as an MBA Association Ambassador.”

Q: What are your other degrees and from what school?

van Zanten: “I have a Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering and a minor in Sales Engineering from the University of Florida.”

Q: When did you know you wanted to pursue a degree at Warrington, and why was it an interesting option for you?

van Zanten: “I reached a point in my career at which I felt I needed an MBA to be considered for new opportunities. UF is close to my heart and learning that the full-time MBA program is highly ranked, offers a small cohort size, and could be completed in one year, made pursing a degree at Warrington an interesting option for me.”

Q: What’s the highlight of your time at Warrington?

van Zanten: “The highlight of my time at Hough Graduate School are the friends and connections I made during my time here.”

Q: Do you know where you will you be working after graduation?

van Zanten: “I will be working with Microsoft as an Account Executive in Texas.”

Q: What can we find you doing after class or on the weekend?

van Zanten: “Ideally, I would be hosting a get together with my friends, painting, or rollerblading”

Q: What’s a fact about you that might surprise other people?

van Zanten: “I danced flamenco for over seven years and still enjoy taking a variety of dance classes.”

Q: If you had $1 million, what would you do with it?

van Zanten: “I would invest some of it, donate some of it to a cause close to my heart, and use the rest to travel and visit friends and family.”
